  • 1 out of 3 people will face a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime.
  • Hope Lodges are places of caring, accepting and most of all, hope.
  •  Hope Lodge provides patients with free, comfortable and safe housing and transportation while they receive treatment.

Facing cancer is hard. Having to travel out of town for treatment can make it even harder. Each Hope Lodge offers cancer patients and their caregivers a free place to stay when their best hope for effective treatment may be in another city. Not having to worry about where to stay or how to pay for lodging allows guests to focus on getting well.  The American Cancer Society / Hope Lodge Hospitality House provides a secure, supportive environment to help guests deal with diagnosis and treatment.  It serves as an extension of the healing process and connection between guests is encouraged.  A variety of social events and activities are offered, as well as support and wellness programs.

Since it opened in June 2010, the Rochester Hope Lodge:

  •  have served more than 9,000 patients and caregivers
  • providing 20,000 nights of free lodging
  • saving them over $3.5 million dollars

The American Cancer Society has a place where cancer patients and their caregivers can find help and hope when home is far away - an American Cancer Society / Hope Lodge. Hope Lodge provides a nurturing, home-like environment where guests can retreat to private rooms or connect with others. Every Hope Lodge also offers a variety of resources and information about cancer and how best to fight the disease.

Our Mission - our Hope, our Efforts - are to give hope to those battling cancer, by supporting Hope Lodge!

I have been thinking about Hope Lodge and everyone who made my husband and me feel welcome and safe through his cancer treatment. Sadly, he passed away earlier this year. Hope Lodge is truly one of God’s blessings.
Thank you for all that you have done for us, removing unneeded stress, caring for us like family and I will remember all of you for the rest of my life.
— A grateful Hope Lodge guest
